Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved changes to two Community Development Block Grant projects aimed at easing access for those with disabilities.
The first was a change order for a contract with Spotts Brothers for an Americans with Disabilities Act project in West Penn Township.The order reduced the amount of paving needed, resulting in a savings of $6,876.That brought the total project cost to $106,856, down from $113,732.The second change was for a project in Tamaqua.Commissioners approved a shifting $14,000 allocated to a street improvement program to instead install a handicap lift and installing steps at the borough swimming pool to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.In other matters Wednesday, commissioners awarded an $11,300 contract to Peter J. Radocha & Sons in Coaldale for a demolition project at 138-140 Fisher Ave.They also approved a cooperation agreement with Coaldale for the project.Also, the county Salary Board set the hourly wage for newly hired district justice assistant 1 Dakota Krapf, Tamaqua, at $12.51. He starts the job on Aug. 1.
