Pennsylvania State Police hosting citizens' academy

The Pennsylvania State Police will be hosting a Citizens' Police Academy at the Reading station.

The program will expand citizens' knowledge and understanding of the law and explore police procedure from the perspective of the state police.The Citizens' Police Academy involves approximately 20 hours of instruction taught in two-hour segments. The program beginsSept. 14 and endsNov. 16.Participants meet each Wednesday night for 10 weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Students must attend 75 percent or more of the scheduled classes to be eligible to graduate and receive a certificate.Class size is limited to allow greater interaction between students and instructors.Citizens are selected from interested applicants. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply and be a resident of Pennsylvania.Applications can be picked up at the Reading station, located at 600 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading; or applicants can email
