Carbon County commissioners
Carbon County officials approved two contracts for personal services for the Area Agency on Aging department.
On Thursday, the commissioners entered into agreements with ARN Incorporated of Hazleton and In-Home Referral Incorporated of Lehighton to continue providing personal care and home support services from June 1, 2016, through June 30, 2018.The county will pay each company $18.69 per hour, a 37-cent per hour increase from the previous contract rate.The board also approved an agreement with Behavioral Health Associates of Lehighton to allow for appropriate levels of collaboration between the company and the county juvenile courts.Other businessThe commissioners voted on the following items and personnel moves:• Approve the 2016-2017 grant-in-aid application/agreement with the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole requesting $443,773 for the improvement of adult probation services through the reimbursement of eligible salaries and benefit of the department's professional staff. The estimated revenue is $65,000.• Approve the 2016 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Financial agreement with Wayne County for employment and training and related administrative services between July 1 and June 30, 2017. The maximum payment for Wayne County shall not exceed $417,811. Carbon County serves at the administrative entity for the WIOA.• Approve the employment separation of Carl W. Pridgen of McAdoo, part-time corrections officer, effective July 20.• Approve the resignation of Ryan A. German of Walnutport, corrections officer, effective July 6.• Approve the hiring of Jacklyn M. Blew of Weatherly, county caseworker I, Children and Youth, effective Aug. 1.• Approve the sheriff appointment of Samantha C. Snyder of Tresckow, special deputy sheriff trainee, effective July 25.• Approve the change of status date correction for Christopher R. Uhlman of Lansford from July 18 to July 21.• Approve the changes of status for Christian J. Archer of Lehighton and Cody S. Silfies of Kunkletown, from part-time corrections officer/Teamsters to corrections officer; and Albaro A. Castro of Hazleton and Alec S. DeLong of New Tripoli, from part-time corrections officer to part-time corrections officer/Teamsters, effective Aug. 1.
