The Tamaqua Salvation Army is gearing up for its third annual Kidz Karnival, which will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 2.
The event is being held in conjunction with National Night Out.The North Railroad Street Parking Lot, on Route 309, will be transformed into a fairlike atmosphere, complete with a bounce house, rides, food and games.New this year will be a dunk tank; a life-size ticket machine where contestants try to capture air blown tickets and coupons; and the wacky wire game, based on the popular "Operation" game.Silberline Manufacturing Company Inc. has again stepped up to be a major sponsor, agreeing to match other donations, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.Volunteers are needed and you don't have to commit to work the entire day, although that would be helpful.For more information, or to volunteer, contact Dina Depos at 570-668-0410.
