EMMAUS (AP) - The families of two people who were fatally struck by a train in 2014 when they decided to walk on the tracks instead of a narrow bridge have filed a lawsuit, alleging unsafe pedestrian conditions approaching the Pennsylvania bridge were to blame for their deaths.
The Morning Call reports (http://bit.ly/2ap6cxe ) the lawsuit was filed this month by the families of 24-year-old Padraic Cremins and 22-year-old Timothy Daddario against PennDOT and Upper Milford Township, where the bridge sits.
The families allege PennDOT and the township were negligent by allowing a dangerous approach to the bridge that "forced" them to walk on the tracks. They're seeking damages in excess of $50,000.
PennDOT declined to comment. The township's solicitor says it hasn't been served but noted it's a state road.
