Coaldale won't seek back taxes on 2 properties

Coaldale won't pursue delinquent taxes on two properties it acquired last year under an agreement with Schuylkill County.

Commissioners on Wednesday approved and authorized the county's consent to the borough's request to compromise delinquent taxes, penalties, interest on the properties, at 138 and 140 Fisher Ave., which the borough acquired for $1 each on Oct. 13, 2015, from Jerry D. Flank and Margaret A. Flank.The property at 138 Fisher Ave. is $2,737.25 in arrears, and the one at 140 Fisher Ave. is $2,541.47.The motion authorizes the county solicitor's office to enter into a joint stipulated order of court agreeing to allow the borough to compromise the taxes.Also on Wednesday, commissioners renewed a special risk accident insurance policy for county volunteers with the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania insurance programs. The cost to cover 729 volunteers, through the Hartford Life Insurance Company, from Aug. 16, 2016, to Aug. 16, 2017, will be $2,595.Commissioners also renewed a service agreement with Inservco Insurance Services to provide third-party workers' compensation services to the county for three years for a flat fee of $13,905 for 2016, $14,322 for 2017 and $14,322 for 2018.
