The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met June 16 with 52 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session.Ruthann Feane provided the inspirational reading "Blue Skies and Rainbows." One new member, Donald Miller, was welcomed to the group. Joan Wall and Jane Tarter were added to the sick list.May and June birthdays were celebrated, honoring Penny Schlorf, Maggie Skymba, Melody Weicker, Mary Bittle, Ann Cafe and Pearl Davis.Refreshments were served.Upcoming events include July 18, trip to Shady Maple; Aug. 11, picnic at the West Penn Rod and Gun Club in Clamtown.The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. p.m.July 13 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center to review Marcus Zusak's "The Book Thief."The book is about a young German girl during World War II. As told by "Death," the story is about Leisel Meminger and the three times Death notices her as it comes to carry away the souls of others.The August selection will be "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime."The art center is located at 125 Pine St. The public is welcome.Bethany ECThe Rev.
