Former Lehighton residents killed in crash in Florida

Three former Lehighton residents were killed in a crash in Florida by what police say was a man driving under the influence.

The victims were a father, mother, and son: Robert Getter, 76; Karen Getter, 73; and Samuel Getter, 52, according to Channel 10 news in Tampa.Florida Highway Patrol said that Joshua Eric Burbank, 25, was intoxicated when he drove his Honda Civic into a GMC Sierra truck carrying three people.The collision sent the truck into a rollover, where it traveled over the barrier wall and into Tampa Bay.Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and the third was transported to an area hospital and later died.In addition to the three counts of DUI manslaughter, Burbank was also charged with one count of DUI property damage and careless driving. He suffered minor injuries and was arrested at the scene.He has since been released from Pinellas County Jail. Burbank spent about 12 hours in jail. His bail was set at $61,000.
