Carbon County court - Parole/probation revocation

Carbon County judges held parole/probation revocation hearings recently on petitions filed by the adult probation office against defendants who violated the terms of their release.

Damian Smith, 23, of Lehighton, had his probation revoked on petition of probation officer Derek George on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, testing positive for a controlled substance, failing to submit to scheduled urine screens, failing to make a concerted effort to pay court costs, failing to complete community service work and failing to engage in drug and alcohol treatment.Judge Steven R. Serfass resentenced him to serve 90 days to 12 months in the county prison effective April 28.Miranda Mooney, 27, of Lehighton, had her probation revoked on a driving under the influence charge on petition of George for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance on several occasions.Serfass resentenced her to serve 90 days to one day less 24 months in prison effective June 6.Stephanie Weirich, 40, of Lansford, had her probation revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of probation officer Cliff Eckhart for violating conditions by admitting the use of a controlled substance, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced her to serve 30 to 60 days in prison effective June 6. She must serve the full 60 days.Gemile Mehmeti, 28, of Lansford, had her probation revoked on charges of false ID to law enforcement and possession of a controlled substance on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by repeatedly testing positive for a controlled substance.Matika resentenced her to serve 45 to 90 days in prison effective June 6 and must serve the full 90 days.Justine Conklin, 21, of Lehighton, had his parole revoked on a charge of simple assault on petition of probation officer Jillian C. McGinley for violating conditions by testing positive for controlled substances on two occasions, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic resentenced him to serve the balance of his maximum, which runs to Sept. 14 and is consecutive to a probation term he is currently serving.Patrick McLaughlin, 23, of Lehighton, had his parole revoked on a charge of criminal use of a communication facility on petition of George for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, failing to submit to scheduled urine screens, failing to make a concerted effort to pay court costs and violation of the zero-tolerance condition by missing urine screens.Serfass resentenced him to serve six to 12 months in prison effective April 28 and it is consecutive to a probation term previously imposed. He was made eligible for work release privileges.Brian McGee, 34, of Lehighton, had his parole revoked on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance on petition of George for violating conditions by being charged with new criminal offenses, testing positive for a controlled substance which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Nanovic resentenced him to serve out his maximum term which runs to July 14.Steven A. Shanton, 22, of Nesquehoning, had his parole revoked on a DUI charge on petition of George for violating conditions by using several controlled substances, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.He was resentenced to serve 90 days in the county prison effective May 6.Jesus Rolon Sr., 36, of Lehighton, had his parole revoked on a charge of obstructing the administration of law or other governmental function on petition of George for violating conditions by having new criminal charges filed against him, having possession of a controlled substance, failing to submit to scheduled urine screen which violated the zero tolerance condition.Matika resentenced him to serve nine to 18 months in prison with the effective date Sept. 8, 2015.ARD revokedA defendant had her placement in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program revoked.Joamber Glasoe, 28, of Palmerton, had her placement revoked on a retail theft charge on petition of probation officer Kimberly Cooper for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substances and failing to submit to weekly urine screen.Her case was placed on the next available trial list.
