Defendants pleading guilty in front of Judge Steven R. Serfass in Carbon County Court last week included:

Matthew D. Fisher, 27, of Palmerton, pleaded to two counts of DUI. He was arrested on the first count on July 1, 2015, by state police at Lehighton along First Street in Lehighton. The second arrest occurred on July 5 by state police along Railroad Street in Weissport. In both cases tests showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Fisher could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for placement in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program-house arrest.Joshua Michael Gross, 21, of Palmerton, was arrested on July 5, 2015, at routes 443 and 209 in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. He was given credit for nine days spent in jail on the charge and was paroled.On a charge of driving under suspension he was fined $200 and costs.Robert Bruce Rimbey Jr., 61, of Blakeslee, was arrested on Oct. 25, 2014, along Route 903 in Jim Thorpe by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.19 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for the IPP.Daniel Adam Jacobus, 33, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 6, 2015, along Second Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for the IPP.Joshua Dylan Smith, 34, of Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 30 along route 443 in Mahoning Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.17 BAC.A first offense, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Zachary David Ammon, 23, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 2 by Lehighton police along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East. A test showed 0.16 BAC.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Tyler Jonathan Mueller, 22, of Lehighton, was arrested on March 2 along Maiden Lane at Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. July 8.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole, and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
