Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will offer a "Festival of Faith" church service at 9 a.m. Sunday to accommodate plans for Lehighton's Sesquicentennial celebration. There will be no Sunday school.Bethany EC will have an open house from noon to 4 p.m. with refreshments, music and guest historian William Leickel of Slatington at noon. Leickel is the great-great-nephew of Frederick Leuckel who was one of the signers of the incorporation of Lehighton in 1866. Leuckel, a German immigrant, donated the beautiful stained glass window in the front of Bethany EC Church in memory of his deceased wife, Lucetta. All are welcome.Other events this week:Tuesday: Ladies Bible study at 10 a.m.; Wednesday: Prayer meeting at 7 p.m.; Thursday: Men's Bible study at the church at 5:15 a.m.Bethany will also have ongoing activities in front of the church during the evenings of the Sesquicentennial week.Vacation Bible School: Ocean Commotion VBS, where you'll dive into Noah's Flood, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 18-22. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Lauren Heywood assists. Coffeehouse fellowship is at 10:30 a.m.Trinity will be participating in the "Festival of Faith Day" during Lehighton's Sesquicentennial celebration on Sunday. The church will be open 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be guided tours offered on the half-hour, plus organ selections from Susan Lovejoy, minister of music, and refreshments.Trinity's Community Vacation Bible School "Cave Quest" is July 11-15, for children age 3 through grade six. The daily time schedule is 6:30-8:30 p.m. The sessions are aimed to assist children to follow their faith by exploring who Jesus is. The free registration information is available in the narthex. A parent or guardian may also call the church office at 610-377-4303 with information. Volunteer opportunities are also available.For those interested in church membership, baptism, or wedding, appointments with the pastor are available by contacting the church office with your request.
