A restaurant owner from Allentown has set his sights on opening a new eatery in Lansford.

A hearing Thursday night will determine whether Frank Longo will be able to transfer a liquor license from Nesquehoning borough to a property he recently purchased at 13 Center St. in Lansford.Longo, through his company Frank L. Enterprises, plans to open a bar and restaurant at that location, which once housed the Our Place restaurant.Longo is the owner of Jack's Slice, located at the Allentown Municipal Golf Course. He says the proposed eatery in Lansford would follow a similar format, with Italian food and specialty cocktails.On Thursday at 7 p.m., council will hold a public hearing on an application to transfer a liquor license to 13 Center St. The license is currently owned by the Nesquehoning Hose Company.Earlier this month, Longo appeared before Lansford Council to address any questions council has about the project.Councilwoman Rose Mary Cannon said she wanted to learn more about the restaurant before voting in favor of the liquor license transfer."I did look into it, I Googled him, and I saw his place in Allentown is very nice. However, it's up to council," she said.When he appeared before council this month, Longo was joined by his attorney as well as Roger MacLean, an Allentown City councilman who was formerly the city's police chief.MacLean said that Longo is a second-generation restaurateur, and that his restaurant does not attract rowdy patrons."My position as a city councilman is that it's been a positive impact to the city, and my position as a former chief of police in Allentown is, there were no problems at any of his places," MacLean said.
