The West End Park and Open Space Commission will host a Father's Day craft event from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Ross Township Park, 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.Kids will get everything they need to decorate a barbecue apron for Dad.Registration must be made at 570-992-9733 or at

Tickets must be purchased in advance from the Western Pocono Lioness.The tea will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include a special guest appearance. Lots of tasty foods and remembrances to take home are promised. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The service is at 9:30 a.m. with Holy Communion and honoring fathers.Air showThe West End Wings Model Airplane Club of Effort is holding its 38th Annual Father's Day Air show from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.This annual event will feature a variety of remote control model aircraft including Piper Cubs, jets, military and sport planes and helicopters. Special attractions include flying race cars and a flying lawn mower. Admission is free but donations are accepted.Other activities will include remote control airplane races and a children's glider-throw contest. In addition, there will be a candy drop for the children from the sweet Agri Duck plane. Refreshments and baked goods will be available for purchase. The community is invited to come and see what the remote control hobby involves.Rosary NightOur Lady Queen of Peace Church is holding a Family Rosary Night from 7-10 p.m., Sunday, on the grounds outside, weather permitting.Families are reminded to bring their own blankets and chairsThere will be a bonfire, s'mores, games and prayer, if the weather cooperates.ScholarshipsThe Western Pocono Women's Club will present its 2016 scholarships to two deserving graduating seniors from Pleasant Valley High School at their meeting to be held on Monday at Effort United Methodist Church on Merwinsburg Road in Effort.Maliyah Jones of Effort will receive the $500 GFWC Western Pocono Women's Club Memorial Scholarship. She is the daughter of Malcolm and Maribel Jones.Mackenzie Borger of Kresgeville will receive the $500 GFWC Western Pocono Women's Club Jacqueline Sue Coleman Scholarship. She is the daughter of Pamela Borger and the late Dean Borger. These two have demonstrated outstanding character and academic achievement.In addition to hearing from their scholarship winners at their Monday meeting, members will be making plans for their 2016-2017 club year, which begins on July 1.They will also begin gearing up for their annual food stand at the 95th Annual West End Fair to be held Aug. 21 to Aug. 27 in Gilbert.The Western Pocono Women's Club meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month, March through December at the Effort United Methodist Church on Merwinsburg Road in Effort PA.It is open to all women 18 years and older.
