Tamaqua man gets prison term in drug deal gone bad

A Tamaqua man was sentenced to a Carbon County prison term on Thursday after previously pleading guilty to a charge of criminal solicitation-robbery.

Jason Paul Tessitore, 31, formerly of Lansford, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve one to 18 months in prison on the charge.He was arrested by Lansford police for an incident on Jan. 26, 2015, in the 300 block of Water Street. Police were dispatched to the area for a 911 call for a reported robbery. Through the course of the investigation police learned that the incident involved a drug transaction "gone bad."Tessitore told Matika, "I wasn't thinking straight" at the time of the incident.In addition to the jail term Tessitore was ordered to render 75 hours of community service, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and have no contact with the victim.He was given credit for 23 days already spent in jail on the charge andbegan serving the remaining timeon Friday.
