A man was killed Saturday night when struck by a vehicle along I-81 in Schuylkill County.

The incident occurred at 11 p.m. just south of the Delano exit in the southbound lanes at the 134.6 mile marker. Initial reports were a man was struck by a vehicle and was lying in the roadway.

Initially a medical transport helicopter was ordered to the scene as CPR was being administered to the victim. It was soon determined the injuries were fatal. The victim was found lying along the right south bound lane near the berm.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy Schuylkill county coroner. State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.
