School days

Dear Editor,

Listening to the radio the other day brought back memories of my school days. One of the few A's I got during my high school career was in English at Jim Thorpe High School. Ginny Smith was the teacher who so graciously gave us our grade. For, of all things, putting on a play. "Macbeth." Yeah, that's right, Shakespeare's "Macbeth." We even had to have a repeat performance, it was that GOOD!That was many moons ago, 50 in fact. How time flies! And how times have changed. Good God, that's a half century! Many things have happened to me in those 50 years. Many good, many bad. I think the good outweighs the bad. Probably because you always remember the good and try to forget the bad.Anyhow, I'm getting off track. The reason for this writing is really nothing. Just a note from some bozo who went to high school. Or to put it another way, something said by an idiot signifying nothing. To the few kids who may read this, and these days little reading is done unless it's a text. High school years are the best of your life. The friends you have made will be lifelong! Treasure them!A Native ChunkerPete BottEast Mauch Chunk
