A Lehighton man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court in three pending criminal cases on Thursday.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from him and four other defendants.Trevor Clarence Hartranft, 38, of Lehighton, pleaded in three pending cases, with a fourth case dropped as part of a plea bargain.Hartman pleaded to one count each of retail theft, theft and receiving stolen property.He admitted to a Dec. 23, 2015, incident at Walmart in Mahoning Township and taking items valued at $472.76; a Feb. 19 incident in the parking lot of Lowe's in the township, where he took a generator from the back of a pickup while the owner was in the store; and to an Oct. 30, 2015, incident outside Gnaden Huetten Hospital, where he took four hubcaps from a vehicle.In the case that was dropped he was charged with retail theft for an incident on Dec. 16, 2015, at Walmart.It was also noted he has two more pending criminal cases.Matika placed him on probation for a total of two years and ordered total restitution of $597.23, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the Walmart store.Hartranft remains an inmate in the county prison on two pending cases.Other pleasOther defendants entering pleas were:Todd Michael Messinger, 29, of Lehighton, and formerly of Lansford, pleaded to a felony three count of robbery.He was charged by Lansford police for an incident on Feb. 28 in the 200 block of West Bertsch Street, where he attempted to steal the purse. The victim refused to give up the purse and fought off Messinger, who fled on foot but was later apprehended.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation to prepare a presentence investigation report.Timothy Brotzman, 34, of Freeland, pleaded to one count of theft.He was charged by state police at Hazleton for entering a homealong Buck Mountain Road, in Lehigh Township, on Dec. 25, 2015, and removing a television.Matika deferred sentencing.Peter James Sorokaput, 37, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to one count of bad check.He was charged by Lansford police for an incident at the Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank, 430 W. Patterson St. Police said he entered the bank and cashed a check for $1,947. The bank later notified him that the check was no good and he had to return the money. He did not, stating he had already spent it.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he render 50 hours of community service and must repay the bank the money within the year.Brett M. Illingworth, 28, of Saylorsburg, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property.He was charged by Kidder Township police with taking $250 from the Split Rock Resort's Ice Cream Parlor, where he was employed. The incident occurred on Sept. 4, 2013. He was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for it for violating the conditions.Illingworth is currently an inmate in the county prison unable to make bail.Matika sentenced him to serve 30 days to one year in jail with credit for 91 days already served and paroled him. He must also render 50 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample.Although paroled, Illingworth will not be released from prison until he can establish an approved residence. He told Matika he was attempting to get into a inpatient rehab program run by the Salvation Army.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
