Man convicted of 1st-degree murder in 2013 ambush slaying

STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the ambush slaying of a man who authorities allege had helped him commit a robbery earlier.

Twenty-five-year-old William McRae was also convicted Monday in Monroe County of evidence tampering, conspiracy and other counts in the 2013 slaying of 20-year-old Brandon Fraser. He was acquitted of robbery and aggravated assault.Authorities alleged that a woman lured a man be beaten and robbed by McRae and Fraser in July 2013, but McRae later either got mad at Fraser for talking about the crime or feared being set up himself. They alleged that he had the woman lure Fraser to a supposed meeting in August 2013 and killed him.The defense accuses witnesses of giving inconsistent accounts in hopes of leniency.
