Lehigh County man charged with enticing a minor

George William Schantz, 42, of Lynn Township, was indicted on charges of enticement of a minor, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.Officials said Schantz used the Internet to try to entice a minor into sexual activity.If convicted the defendant faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison with a maximum possible sentence of life, up to a lifetime of supervised release, a possible fine, a $100 special assessment, and a $5,000 additional special assessment.The case was investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sherri A. Stephan.This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
