Competitors enter Beltzville Lake for the first leg of the Mid-Atlantic Open Triathlon, "The Bear," held Sunday at Beltzville State Park. The race, sponsored by Pioneer Challenge, consisted of three different events. The half-distance triathlon featured 1.2 miles of swimming, 56 miles of biking and 13.1 miles of running; the Olympic distance triathlon featured 1,500 meters of swimming, 25 miles of biking and 6.2 miles of running; and the sprint triathlon featured 750 meters of swimming, 12 miles of biking and 3.1 miles of running.
