Power restored after truck takes out lines in West Penn

Power has been restored to residents along Mush Dahl and Chain Circle roads in West Penn Township after a truck struck a utility pole Saturday night, bringing down lines and the pole while cutting utilities to an unknown number of area residents.

The incident began about 6:30 p.m. as the driver was traveling west on Mush Dahl Road at the intersection with Chain Circle. He veered to the and snapped off a utility pole. The man got out of the wreckage and walked away from the scene to the west toward Clamtown. Power, telephone and cable lines were brought down hanging just feet above the roadway.

The West Penn Fire Company No. 1 responded to the scene with their firefighters and fire police shutting down the roadways and maintaining traffic control at the scene.

West Penn Township police Sgt. Jason Lorah is in charge of the investigation.
