The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has numerous special activities planned for May, including a day of spring planting on May 19.Other activities for this month include: Monday, bird feeder craft day; May 12, flower painting; May 16, cookie baking day; May 16, singalong with Audrey Christ; May 18, Salvation Army service; May 25, visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten students.The center is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.In addition to weekly singalongs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling service, which requires advance notice. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.For more information about the center or services provided, call 570-668-6577 or visit Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.TEPTOThe Tamaqua Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization will hold its last formal meeting of the 2015-2016 school year on Tuesdayin the school library.Fifth-grade parents will meet at 6 p.m. and the regular meeting will be at 6:30 p.m.Paper shreddingMauch Chunk Trust Company is providing a free paper shredding service to its local branch office neighbors.Confidential documents and sensitive communications, such as medical papers, will be shredded, immediately, at each individual site.For neighbors of its Hometown branch, the service will be offered on May 7 at 226 Claremont Ave. Individuals may bring up to five bankers boxes worth of material. This offer is not open to businesses.Other MCT locations and dates are: 1331 Clamtown Road, West Penn Township, May 14; 184 Market St., Nesquehoning, May 21; Routes 903 and 534, Albrightsville, May 28; 735 Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East, Lehighton, June 4.Hours at all locations will be 9 a.m. to noon.Community picnicFrieden's Luthern Church will host a free community picnic on June 5 at the church, 525 Church St. in New Ringgold. Time will be from 3 to 6 p.m.Refreshments will include Coney Island burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, other picnic foods and the opportunity to create your own ice cream sundae.The event is open to all members of the community.
