The Tamaqua Public Library will celebrate the 15th Annual Free Comic Book Day on Saturday. Hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available all day.The library has a number of new graphic novels in honor of the event. Participants will have the opportunity to create a personal superhero and write a comic panel. Each family in attendance will receive one free comic book.For more information, call 570-668-4660. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session.Secretary Ruthann Feane provided the inspirational reading "God's Unfailing Birthday promise." A moment of silence was held in memory of Vern Balliet. Jane Tarter and Antionette Triano were placed on the sick list. Gloria McHale was welcomed back to the group.March and April birthdays were celebrated, honoring Madalene Heffelfinger, Sylvia Houseman, Paul Rarick, Brenda Zellers, Paul Randy, Pat Fredericks and Joan Deitrich.A trip to the Dutch Way Restaurant is being planned for May 9.Refreshments were served.The next meeting will be held at 1

p.m.May 12 at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.The group is open to anyone 55 or older, and the YMCA is handicap accessible.Soup socialThe next monthly community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be held Saturday.
