Lansford Borough is taking applications to replace its secretary/treasurer, who recently resigned to take another job.

Council is currently accepting resumes from applicants interested in filling the position. Applications will be accepted through April 30 at 4:30 p.m.The borough secretary/treasurer is responsible for recording and maintaining meeting minutes, preparing for annual budgets and audits, and interacting with members of the public.Interested parties must complete a letter of interest, a resume, and an application for the position, which can be picked up at the borough office at 1 W. Ridge St.Applicants should have experience with municipal accounting, QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.The borough's previous clerk, Mary T. Fittos, resigned from the position earlier this month to take a position outside the county.The borough's assistant secretary/treasurer is currently running the office.Fittos' last council meeting with the borough was April 13. Council praised her for her two years serving the borough."On behalf of council and myself I would like to wish her luck and thank her for the work she's done for the borough," Councilwoman Rose Mary Cannon said.During the meeting, a business owner urged council to look at hiring a borough manager to better manage the day-to-day operations of the borough."I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but the funds are probably what has kept us back from that," Cannon said.
