Carbon County court - Parole/probation revocation
Parole/probation revocation hearings were held by Carbon County judges on petitions filed by the adult probation office against defendants who violated the terms of their release.
Vickie Turoscy,58, of Palmerton, had her probation revoked on a charge of retail theft on petition of probation officer Kimberly Cooper for violating conditions by being arrested by state police at Lehighton on retail theft charges.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced her to serve four to one day less 24 months in the county prison effective March 18. She was granted work release privileges and must obtain both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations.Earl Scott,56, of Palmerton, had his probation revoked on a charge of indecent assault on petition of Cooper for violating conditions by not making a concerted effort to pay his court costs and not obtaining a mental health evaluation.Judge Steven R. Serfass resentenced him to serve 30 to 60 days in the county prison effective July 18, and he must serve the full 60 days. However, if he obtains a mental health evaluation, follows all recommendations and pays $500 toward his costs plus his regular monthly payments by July 18 the order will be vacated.Daniel Hollan,33, of Lansford, had his probation revoked in two cases on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal trespass.Matika resentenced him to serve 237 days to two years less a day in the county prison followed by three years of probation. He was given credit for 237 days already served and paroled.Tyler Kistler,28, of Lehighton, had his parole revoked on a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on petition of probation officer Toby Butz for violating conditions by testing positive for opiates, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Serfass resentenced him to serve the balance of his sentence which runs to Sept. 19. He was made eligible for work-release privileges.Michael Ryan Muth,25, of Jim Thorpe, had his parole revoked on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance on petition of probation officer Derek George for violating conditions by testing positive for a controlled substance, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II resentenced him to serve 90 days in the county prison effective Jan. 12 and is consecutive to a probation term imposed in the original sentence.
