A Lehighton driver was injured and flown by a medical helicopter to a Lehigh Valley area hospital following a one-vehicle crash early today.

State police at Lehighton said Sherry Link, 63, of Lehighton, was driving a 2008 Kia Sorento northbound on Hemlock Street in Towamensing Township.At the intersection with Owl Creek Road, she lost control of the vehicle.The SUV went off the right side of the road and struck a tree head-on at 5:40 a.m.She was flown from the scene to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest.Troopers were assisted at the scene by Towamensing Township Fire Company volunteers and medical units from Palmerton and Lehighton.
