Monroe County Historical Association has announced a competition and scholarship event for Monroe County high school juniors.

The second annual Monroe County History Challenge will take place at 7 p.m. April 28, 2016 at East Stroudsburg University, Stroud Hall, Room 113, 200 Prospect St., in East Stroudsburg.The competition will consist of four rounds of questions and will test participants' knowledge on U.S. history, government, geography, Pennsylvania history, local history and current events.First place winner will receive $500; second place, $400; third place, $250; and honorable mention, $100.The public is welcome.Blue Ridge Communications will be recording the competition and the program will be aired at a later date.For additional information, contact the historical association at 570-421-7703 or email at
