A high-speed chase along the Pennsylvania Turnpike through at least four counties ended in a crash Saturday night.

The incident began around 8 p.m. when a trooper from the King of Prussia barracks began chasing a speeding car along the turnpike near King of Prussia in Montgomery County. The chase then turned north on the Northeast Extension.When the chase passed the Lehigh Valley interchange, a trooper from the Pocono barracks attempted to deploy a set of "stop sticks," a device used to deflate the tires of a vehicle, but the car was traveling so fast the trooper did not have time.Troopers reported the chase to be well in excess of 100 mph. The chase involved a silver Chrysler with Pennsylvania registration. A short time later for concerns of the safety of the motorists traveling the turnpike, the chase was aborted.The turnpike command notified all of the toll takers and workers of the northbound exits to watch for the speeding car and to make an attempt to get a description of the driver.A short time later a crash was reported on the northbound exit ramp of the Mahoning Valley exit. A silver Chrysler had attempted to exit but the driver lost control, rolling the unit onto its side. Passing motorists ran to assist the driver.A young woman climbed out of the vehicle. At least one woman consoled the female until state troopers arrived on scene. She was evaluated by a waiting ambulance.No other details are available at this time.
