A Bethlehem man pleaded guilty to drug counts, and driving under the influence, in three separate criminal cases in which he admitted processing materials used in the operation of a methamphetamine lab.

Joseph John Giles, 30, formerly of Slatington, pleaded to one count each of illegal disposing of chemicals used in a meth lab, possession of a controlled substance and DUI.Giles was arrested on the possession count on June 8, 2014, by agents of the state Attorney General's Office. Following the arrest, authorities received information from a source that Giles was operating a meth lab at 115B Lehigh St. in Palmerton. Agents went to the address and learned that Giles gave the materials used in the meth lab to another person to dispose of.The DUI occurred on April 23, 2014, along Canal Road where he was stopped by Franklin Township police. A test showed he was under the influence of a controlled substance.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the pleas but deferred sentencing ordering the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report. Also, Giles must get a drug and alcohol evaluation for the DUI charge.
