A Lehighton man pleaded guilty last Thursday to driving under the influence and driving while his license is suspended-DUI related.

He was one of seven defendants to plead guilty to DUI before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Vehicle stopDuane Eric Bonetsky, 51, was stopped by state police at Lehighton on Sept. 1, 2014, along Prospect Street in Weissport. He failed to use his turn signal, which led to the stop.He was found to be under the influence of alcohol with a blood test revealing a 0.15 BAC. It was also learned that his license was under suspension for a prior DUI.On the DUI charge he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300. On the suspension count he was sentenced to serve 30 to 60 days in prison, but must serve the entire 60 days, pay a fine of $500 and render 25 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 5 p.m. April 1 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.Other pleasOther defendants entering guilty pleas to DUI included:Melissa Marie Hyska, 39, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 5, 2015, along Franklin Street in Weissport by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.20 BAC.She was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Harold Wilbur McFarland III, 30, of Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, was arrested on May 22, 2015, along Bridge Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so McFarland can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for the county's Intermediate Punishment Program-house arrest.Matthew Thomas Regan Jr.,54, of Glenside, Montgomery County, was arrested on Sept. 4, 2015, along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Regan can obtain a D&A evaluation.Dean David Steigerwalt,52, of Lehighton, was arrested on April 27, 2015, along North Street by Lehighton police. A test showed 0.15 BAC.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Jasmine Lynne Conner, 34, of Lehighton, was arrested on Oct. 20, 2013, along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton, at a checkpoint operation. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so she can get a D&A evaluation.Rogelio Ortiz, 27, of Palmerton, was arrested on Oct. 3, 2012, along Route 443 in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Ortiz can obtain a D&A evaluation.Each defendant sentenced must pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
