Tamaqua Area School Board recently took the following action:

• Approved the expulsion of a middle school student for one calendar year for a violation of the disciplinary code.• Rescinded the motion from Nov. 17 hiring Melissa Beehrle as a full-time custodian.• Removed Maryann Kopp from the substitute custodian list.• Removed Molly Pavia as a part-time paraprofessional.• Approved Hannah Murphy and Samantha Postupack as substitute paraprofessionals for the 2016 extended school year program.• Approved Emilie Baker, Sherri Gerber, and Krista LaBraico as teachers for the 2016 extended school year program, at a stipend of $25 per hour.• Approved Michael Backo, Marcus Bollinger, Richard Carl, Anthony Curtier, and Amy Danisavich as substitute professional guest teachers.• Approved Caitlin Ligenza as a speech therapist for the 2016 extended school year program at a stipend of $25 per hour.• Approved Rebecca Luna, Jessica Mazaika, Diane Michalik, Alicia Murphy, Jessica Schaefer, Dawn Walsh, and Pamela Zelinsky as teachers for the 2016 extended school year program, at a stipend of $25 per hour.• Approved Terry Koch, Ann Rose Ulinitz, Sue Zehner, Matt DeAngelo, Cindy Dover, Paulette Kelly, Melissa Scannell, Molly Betz, and Amy Gardiner as paraprofessionals for the 2016 extended school year program at the current rate of pay.• Approved Hannah Murphy and Samantha Postupack as substitute paraprofessionals for the 2016 extended school year program at the current rate of pay.• Added Brad Clemson, Molly Clemson, and Zachary Filloy to the substitute custodian list.• Granted permission to Lawrence Capozelli to take Physics classes to the annual Physics Day at Great Adventure Six Flags Amusement Park, New Jersey, on May 6, leaving the high school at 8 a.m. and returning at around 10:30 p.m., at no cost to the district.• Approved the West Penn Elementary School, Grade 5, trip to Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Maryland, at no cost to the district.
