A Carbon County man is in jail after he admitted to stealing toys from his employer, which he then gave to his children.

Brian Stano, 45, of Lehighton, has been charged with one count each of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, a misdemeanor, and one count of receiving stolen property, also a misdemeanor.He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 11 before District Magistrate Michael J. Pochron of Allentown.Stano remains free in lieu of $1,000 bail.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Kevin J. Kress of the Salisbury Township Police Department:On Jan. 7, Kress was notified by a Lehigh Valley Health Network Hospital investigator about an employee who had admitted to stealing several toys from inside the hospital.Kress met the investigator inside the main lobby. He told Kress that he has been investigating the theft of numerous toys from the hospital, and that he believed that Stano may be involved.The investigator told Kress that Stano worked in the engineering department, and has been an employee for about 12 years.Kress talked to Stano who told him that on two separate occasions, he stole an Xbox One gaming system and several miscellaneous toys from a storage area in the hospital.Stano said that in mid-December, he stole the Xbox One gaming system valued at $500, and that on Jan. 1, he stole the miscellaneous other toys.Stano said that money was tight, and that he gave the Xbox One and some Legos sets to his children for Christmas.Stano said he took a refrigerator to the Penthouse where the toys were stored, loaded the toys inside, and then taped the doors shut.He used the refrigerator to take the toys home.
