Dr. Thomas Meyer, vice president of academic services and student development at Lehigh Carbon Community College, has been elected by the American Conference of Academic Deans to serve as the chair of its board of directors.

He is the first from a community college to chair the organization.For ACAD, Meyer previously served as vice chair and before that as chair of Governance and Board Development and a general board member.Because ACAD partners with the Association of American Colleges & Universities, Meyer will also serve ex officio on that board of directors.Meyer has served as vice president at LCCC since July 2015, coming from Broward College's downtown center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he served as dean of academic and student affairs.Before Broward College, he worked at Miami Dade College as dean of academic affairs responsible for the schools of computer/engineering and architecture and culinary.He earned his doctorate, master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.
