A hearing has been scheduled for a Monroe County woman caught with heroin inside her vehicle.

Brenda Crane, 37, of 4214 Pin Oak Terrace, East Stroudsburg, is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing May 6 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.Crane faces charges on two counts of the controlled substance, drug, device and cosmetic act: prohibited acts, penalties; and one count of driving under the influence of alcohol.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Christopher Tomlinson of State Police at Fern Ridge barracks:At 10:41 a.m. Jan. 10, Crane was looking for a residence when he observed multiple people in a green coupe in the parking lot exit to McIlhaney Road with the car running.As Tomlinson turned into the lot, the people in the vehicle began making furtive movements.Tomlinson then made contact with the operator, who was identified as Crane, and had the people get out of the vehicle due to the movements they were making.Tomlinson then asked Crane if there was anything illegal in the car, she replied that there was marijuana in a cigarette pack by the driver's side door.While interacting with Crane, her pupils were constricted and she seemed confused.A search of the car was conducted and a small, multicolorednail clipper case containing heroin packets was located in a purse in the back seat of the vehicle.Crane said the container was hers, but she did not know the heroin was in there.While talking to Crane, she admitted using heroin before to supplement her pain pills.Based on Tomlinson's observations, Crane was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for blood withdrawal.The test results showed the presence of a controlled substance.
