Dog that was stabbed, beaten is slowly recovering

A dog that was allegedly stabbed and hit over the head with a hammer by its owner in Monroe County last month is slowly on the mend.

Michaella, a female fawn-colored English Mastiff, has seen an uptick in her health, according to a message the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals posted on its website."We are happy to report that Michaella's health is improving - she is lying upright with her legs in front and her head up for longer periods of time (as opposed to on her side), and is eating on her own."She has a long road to recovery, but she is making some really positive progress."Michaella's owner, Brandon Cramer, 30, of Saylorsburg, has been charged with animal cruelty, and faces four counts on the charge.Cramer is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 9:45 a.m. March 21, before District Judge JoLana Krawitz of Stroudsburg.
