The Tamaqua Fire Department and other first responders were dispatched to the 200 block of Pine Street at 12:55 p.m. Friday for a report of a chimney fire. The Schuylkill Communications Center dispatch directed responders to a hair salon located on the east side of the street. However, the incident was traced to the opposite side. Those on scene said blue smoke was seen coming out of a chimney at the area of 210 Pine Street, Route 309. The smoke was believed to be related to a furnace at the premises.
