A hearing has been scheduled for a Carbon County man accused of simple assault.

Ronald Strohl, 62, of Palmerton, is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 30 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.Strohl faces charges on two counts of harassment by physical contact, and one count of simple assault.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Brian White of the Palmerton Police Department:At around 11:30 a.m. Feb. 7, White was dispatched to 450 Lafayette Ave., for an active physical domestic.White arrived on scene and was met outside by a woman, who said Strohl started a verbal altercation with her, and while doing so, her boyfriend came downstairs and confronted Strohl.The woman was standing in between her boyfriend and Strohl, who swung at the boyfriend, striking him on the right side of his face and knocking his eyeglasses off his head.Strohl swung a few more times and struck the woman at least three separate times in the head.The boyfriend gave White the same account of events that the woman gave him, as did Strohl's girlfriend, who witnessed it as well.The victims came back to the station to fill out a statement form and wished to pursue charges.While at the station, the woman was complaining about a severe headache, neck pain and felt like she was going to throw up, so White had EMS respond to the station, and the woman was taken to Palmerton Hospital for evaluation for a possible concussion.White spoke with Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Dydra-Hatton, who approved charges and said that Strohl could leave for the night since all parties involved resided under the same roof.If Strohl refused to leave, then he would be housed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility.White attempted to contact Strohl, but was unable to speak with him at that time.
