Four first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Tuesday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Jose Manuel Macareno-Pulgar,21, of Albrightsville, was placed on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on Nov. 4, 2015, by Kidder Township police following a traffic stop.He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Anthony Petrone,23, of Weatherly, was placed for six months on a charge of receiving stolen property. He was arrested on Jan. 1, 2015, by Weatherly police for taking a road sign along First Street.He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service and make restitution of $114.72 for replacing the sign.Cale Thomas Staruch,21, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on July 1, 2015, at the Turkey Hill Market in Lansford.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Ashley M. Sudziarski,26, of Freeland, was placed on a retail theft charge. She was arrested on Aug. 13, 2015, at the Wal-Mart store in Mahoning Township.She was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
