A Monroe County woman charged with driving under the influence is headed to Monroe County Court.
Angelique Marie Knecht, 39, of Stroudsburg, is scheduled to appear before the county Court of Common Pleas.Knecht faces charges on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, and one count each of driving while operating privilege is suspended/revoked and careless driving.She remains free in lieu of $5,000 unsecured.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Brandon L. Jimmerson of the Pennsylvania State Police Fern Ridge barracks:At 5:14 p.m. Nov. 21, Jimmerson was dispatched to the report of a motor assist on Route 715 near the intersection with Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.Jimmerson saw a red Volvo on the shoulder of the roadway stuck in a dirt mound.A member of the West End EMS directed him to the driver of the vehicle, who was sitting on a curb in the Wawa parking lot.Jimmerson said the driver, Knecht, said she was trying to turn into Wawa and got stuck on a dirt mound.While speaking to Knecht, Jimmerson noticed her eyes were blood- shot, and her speech was slurred. He asked her to perform a field sobriety test to determine if she was safe to operate a motor vehicle.She was unable to perform the tests.Knecht took a preliminary breath test, which showed a reading of 0.147 percent. She was placed under arrest for DUI.A witness was interviewed on scene and said that she was at the Wawa when she observed a red Volvo attempt to turn left into the Wawa parking lot, but missed the turn.The witness said that she approached the vehicle and thought the driver was under the influence of something, so she dialed emergency personnel.
