National Weather Service to investigate possible tornado in Lancaster

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - Strong storms have moved through Pennsylvania causing major damage in Lancaster County.

The National Weather Service plans to send a storm survey team to the area on Thursday to determine if a tornado touched down.

Meteorologist John LaCorte says the Wednesday night storm caused multiple buildings to collapse, tore roofs off homes and downed trees and power lines. There's at least one report of a barn that had collapsed with animals trapped inside.

The storm flooded streets and left behind a trail of debris.

There's no immediate word on any injuries.

LaCorte says the eastern part of the county was hit the hardest. He calls it a "pretty significant storm."
