The VALOR Clinic Foundation in Kunkletown helps homeless servicemen get back on their feet. In addition to its in-house program, the clinic is involved in a number of outreach programs, and three times a year the organization arranges to provide a holiday meal for local families of veterans who might need a hand up.
"Sometimes families are just struggling to make ends meet," said house manager Michelle Goyette. "These families are not homeless, but they need a little help. We try and help by making sure they have a nice holiday meal for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. At Christmas, if we know they have children, we provide some gifts for the kids as well."The group is in the process of putting together the food boxes for Easter, which comes early this year. The group will be packing and delivering the boxes onMarch 23.According to the group's Facebook page, they are currently in need of:Frozen turkeys, canned cranberry sauce, canned or jarred gravy, stuffing mix, bottled juice and brown rice. The organization also needs drivers to deliver the boxes on March 23.Anyone interested in helping can contact the house through its Facebook page, VALOR Clinic Foundation and click on the event tab, or call Goyette at 570-664-6468. Items can be dropped off at 1130 Scenic Drive, Kunkletown.
