A male driver was taken to a local hospital and two others were checked at the scene after a two-vehicle crash that halted four lanes of traffic on Route 309 in Hometown shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday.
According to those at the scene, a Chevrolet Suburban collided with a Chevrolet Impala in the area of Two Kings Restaurant about one-quarter mile north of the Hometown intersection.
The Suburban was driven by a female driver accompanied by a young child.
The crash brought traffic to a standstill on all four lanes of the busy highway.
Responding were Rush Township police, Hometown and Quakake fire companies, Tamaqua Emergency and Rescue Squad, Tamaqua Community Ambulance, and Hometown fire police.
The vehicles were removed from the scene by Hope's Collision and Towing, Tamaqua.
