Two people were arrested by Tamaqua police on Feb. 15 in connection with a domestic dispute.
Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Pine Street for a domestic in progress at 8:53 a.m. A witness told police that both parties had entered an apartment above the Pine Street Pub.Officers went to the apartment and spoke with Matthew F. Cichon, 46, of 20 E. High St., Coaldale. Cichon said he had been arguing with Lauren Ritchie, 39, of 401 Pine St., Tamaqua. During the argument she struck him in the head with an ashtray. Ritchie confirmed his account.While speaking with her officers saw a shotgun in the corner of the living room and checked to make sure it was unloaded. It was.Ritchie volunteered the information that the gun belongs to Cichon, who she said was a felon.Both parties were transported to the police station where a records check confirmed Cichon was convicted of conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance in 1988.Ritchie was charged with simple assault and harassment. Cichon was charged with possession of a prohibited firearm and harassment.The shotgun was seized as evidence.
