The National Weather Service warns icy spots on roads and walkways are possible through the morning commute.

Temperatures are below freezing for most of the region. As a result, icy spots and black ice have developed on untreated roads snd walkways. Black ice can be nearly impossible to see. Use extra caution when driving and walking this morning, especially on untreated roads and bridges and overpasses.

Melting is expected later this morning, but likely not until after the morning commute.

The coldest air of the season will arrive this weekend with bitterly cold wind chills of 10 to 25 below zero possible late Saturday into Sunday.
