Registration forms and information about Raising the House's annual 5K race will be available from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Joey B's restaurant in Palmerton.

The race is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19 in the Palmerton Borough Park.In addition to the registration forms, the Palmerton Area High School softball team will be holding a fundraiser at the restaurant during that time.A portion of the sales between 4 and 8 p.m. will be donated to the softball team.The mission of Raising the House is to provide financial assistance to the students and families within the Palmerton Area School District while honoring the memory of Blaine R. House, a teacher at Towamensing Elementary School.Since beginning the fundraiser, the organization has been able to purchase of playground equipment for Towamensing Elementary School, provide a scholarship to a Palmerton Area High School graduating senior who attended Towamensing Elementary School, assist families with hardships in Palmerton, and donate Christmas presents for children at Parkside Education Center, S.S. Palmer and Towamensing elementary schools.
