A familiar face has been chosen as Schuylkill Township's new zoning officer.

On a 2-1 vote, the township's board of supervisors on Monday agreed to appoint Paul Benulis to the position.Chairman Charles Fayash and Frank Fabrizio were in favor, with Charles Hosler opposed.Benulis will be paid $150 a month, provided he attends zoning meetings and Uniform Construction Code meetings, according to township secretary Natasha Tyson.Benulis had videotaped township meetings while attending them as a resident.OtherIn other action, supervisors:• Appointed Comprehensive Inspection Agency of Cressona as the township's Uniform Construction Code enforcer.• Approved, on a 2-1 vote, with Hosler opposed, two new streetlights, one at 701 Broad St. Tuscarora, and the other at 467-469 Valley Street, Brockton, free of charge 150 feet of wire or less.• Tabled a request to change all streetlight bulbs to LED, saving about $55 per month.• Approved a request to look into the Illegal Dump Fee PA Surveillance Camera Loan Program.• Agreed to purchase 140 tons of salt.• Approved the 2014 audit.
