Pleasant Valley to hold Hall of Fame ceremony

The Pleasant Valley School District will hold its Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the Class of 2016 this evening.

The induction ceremony will take place during the Bears' basketball doubleheader with Stroudsburg. It will take place at halftime of the boys' varsity game, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.The girls' game starts at 5:30 p.m.This year's class includes Jason Fisher, Justin Kashner, Trevor Micklos, Mark Versuk, Tony Yazbeck and Dr. Nichole (Christman) Hossler.JASON FISHERFisher was a three-year varsity letterman in football and a four-year varsity letterman in track and field before graduating from Pleasant Valley High School in 1977. He was also a member of the Varsity Club.In football, Fisher was named captain during his senior season and helped lead the Bears to a 10-1 record.In track and field, Fisher was named Track Man of the Year in 1977. Before graduation, Fisher held the school record for the 220 meter, the 440 meter, the long jump and the triple jump. He was also the Centennial League champion in the 220 and 440. He was the first Bear athlete to win a district championship when he captured the 440. He qualified for states that year and came in 11th place in the 440 at Shippensburg.Fisher has worked for the Pleasant Valley School District for the past 20 years. He has been the Head of Maintenance for the past 18 years. He currently resides in Effort with his wife, Brenda, of 20 years. He has a son, Garrett, who is currently in eight grade in the school district.JUSTIN C. KASHNERJustin graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2001. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point earning a B.S. in Leadership and Management. Justin served our country in the military as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army, serving two tours in Iraq. Justin left the Army having reached the rank of captain in 2010. He went on to attend Villanova University and earned his Master's in Business Administration in 2015.Justin was a three-year letter winner at Pleasant Valley in baseball and football. As a kicker his senior year, he booted eight field goals and 32 extra points for 56 points. Justin pitched for the baseball team and was named Player of the Year for the Times News, Pocono Record and Morning Call, as well as named to the Toyota All-Pennsylvania Baseball team.At West Point Military Academy, Justin was a four-year starting pitcher and a two-time All-Patriot League pitcher. He recorded a win in the NCAA tournament against South Alabama.Justin was awarded The Bronze Star, the Combat Action Badge, two Army commendation medals, two Iraq Campaign Service medals, four Army Achievement medals, two overseas ribbons, the Global War on Terrorism medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.Justin currently works for Athena health as a client account executive and resides in Nazareth with his wife of eight years, Adrienne. He has two daughters, Kennedy and Kampbell.TREVOR MICKLOSTrevor graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2000. He went on to attend Lehigh University where he earned his B.S. in Business and Marketing in 2004. He then attended Moravian College and earned his Master's in Business Administration in Healthcare Management in 2009.Trevor was a four-year letter winner at Pleasant Valley in football during which he set numerous records and was named to many honors. Trevor was named first-team All-Conference quarterback and defensive back in the Mountain Valley Conference in 1999. He combined for over 2,000 yards of offense his senior year, and accumulated 5,000 yards of offense in his career at Pleasant Valley. He was a two-year captain, Scholar-Athlete, Channel 13 Player of the Week, twice named the Times News Player of the Week, and also named to the Pocono Record All Area team for defense. He participated in the McDonald's All-Star Game where he was named the Player of the Game.He was a member of the National Honor Society at Pleasant Valley and the 1999 Lehigh Valley Scholar-Athlete nominee for the National Football Foundation.Trevor was a three-year letter winner in football at Lehigh University. He was named the Lehigh University Special Teams Player of the Year in 2002. In the same year, he was a member of the Patriot League Championship team and Lambert Cup as well as the recipient of the National Football Hall of Fame Scholar Leader Athlete Award. Trevor works with COACH, which is the Community Outreach by Athletes that Care about Helping. Trevor currently is the Regional Director of Operations for Coordinated Health. He lives in Easton with his wife of three years, Corrine. He has a daughter, Josetta.MARK VERSUKMark was a three-sport athlete at Pleasant Valley. He earned three letters in football, basketball, and baseball.His football honors include: First Team Mountain Valley Conference quarterback, Second Team safety and he played in the McDonald's All-Star Game. In basketball he was named First Team forward and played in the LARC All-Star Game. He led his team in rebounds in both his junior and senior years.In baseball, he helped lead the Bears to the Centennial League championship in 1994 and he was a First team outfielder and Second Team pitcher. In 1995 Mark was named All-Around Male Athlete at Pleasant Valley High School. At Widener University, Mark was a four-year letter winner in baseball. He was named an All-MAC pitcher and helped his team win the MAC championship in 1999. Mark played in the Division III College World Series that year. Mark is currently coaching football and baseball at Pleasant Valley. He has helped coach teams to numerous league championships as well as a District 11 championship in baseball in 2010. Mark has been a special-education teacher at PV for the past 10 years, and has continued to coach football and baseball the past 14 years. He currently resides in Kresgeville.TREVOR YAZBECKWhile at Pleasant Valley from 1993 to 1995, Yazbeck was awarded "perfect attendance" and was a straight-A student. He was especially involved in the high school drama department where he starred in the musical productions of "Godspell" and "The Sound of Music." He also participated in basketball during his high school career.As a professional actor, Yazbeck started in many plays on and off Broadway, which included Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun, Oklahoma, Never Gonna Dance, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Chorus Line, White Christmas, Chicago, On the Town, Singin' In The Rain, My One & Only, Kiss Me Kate, and Sycamore Trees. He also had a numerous amount of TV appearance including "As the World Turns, All My Children and Smash."In 2015, Yazbeck was recognized/awarded with the following honors: a 2015 Tony Award Nominee, the Fred Astaire Aware winner, a Baudium Award Honoree, and an Outer Critics Circle Award nominee. He was also nominated for the Outer Critics Circle award in 2008.Yazbeck is a National Young Arts Master teacher, panelist and director. He teaches master classes in acting, audition technique and dance. He serves on the board of the prestigious Young Arts program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.Yazbeck is currently on Broadway starring in "Finding Neverland" in the role JM Barrie and resides in New York City with his wife Katie.DR. NICHOLE (CHRISTMAN) HOSSLERAfter graduating from Pleasant Valley in 1998, Hossler attended Western Maryland College and earned her BA in Biology, with a minor in German in 2002. She went to Medical school at Jefferson Medical College and graduated as an MD in 2006. She completed her family medical residency at York Hospital in 2009. Currently, she works as a family physician within the Geisinger Health System.While at PV, Hossler was valedictorian of her graduating class, and she was class president. She also participated in field hockey as well as track and field. She was the recipient of the C+E Scholarship and the Mattioli Scholarship her senior year.In college, Hossler graduated from the honor program in pre-med. She was inducted into both Phi Beta Kappa and Tri-Beta Honor societies. She also was on the track and field team in college participating in the shot put and discus for three years. During her residency, she was Co-Chief Resident and received the Resident Teacher of the Year Award.Hossler worked as an intern for a summer in the Bridging the Gaps program, and she volunteered at Jeff HOPE's medical clinics for the homeless in Philadelphia. She also spent a rotation on the Navajo Nation in an Indian Health Services Medical Center.Hossler currently resides in Danville with her husband of five years, Eric. She has two children, Tyson and Vivian.
