Longtime Polk Township resident Carl Heckman was named Tuesday to replace Nancy May as township supervisor.

Brian K. Ahner, chairman, announced Heckman as the replacement for Nancy May, whose resignation was effective Jan. 14.Ahner said the decision was not any easy one. The board had 30 days from May's resignation date to select the new supervisor.Although there were no formal interviews, Ahner, and his assistant chairman Mike Hurley, reviewed the resumes and then spoke to a couple of candidates at a time.Ahner said, "We went for the guy who spent the most time in the township, and had the most township experience."Beverly Christman filled the position as treasurer, and Ruthanne Toner as board secretary.
