The Jim Thorpe Community Watch Group meetings for 2016 have been announced and will begin on Feb. 18.All meetings start at 7 p.m. at various locations in the borough.Anyone in need of transportation or for more information becoming a member, call Jamie Solomon at the Jim Thorpe Police Department at 570-325-4995.The locations and featured speakers are as follows:• Feb. 18: Phoenix Fire Company, 173 West Broadway. Officer Rob Carelli will do a presentation on gun safety.• April 21: Diligent Fire Company, 300 Center Ave. Rose Reese and Tom Connors will do a presentation on dog safety and the proper procedure for finding a lost dog.• May 19: Fairview Fire Company, Ninth Street. Mark Nalesnik will do a presentation on how to handle recent bomb scares.• June 16: Phoenix Fire Company. Carole Alonge will do a presentation on road safety and distracted driving.• Aug. 18: Diligent Fire Company. Janene Holter will do a presentation on adult bullying.• Sept. 15: Fairview Fire Company. Chief Joseph Schatz will do a presentation on drugs in the area.• Oct. 20: Diligent Fire Company. Awards night and final meeting of the year.Class 1964Members of the 1964 graduating class Jim Thorpe High School will meet at noon Wednesdayat Platz's Restaurant in Lehighton. Members of the "70th Birthday Bash" will meet at 11 a.m. to go over items for the affair, which will be held in the fall.Community supperSpaghetti and meatballs will be served at the next free community dinner. It will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sundayat St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Race Street.
