A Luzerne County man will serve jail time for his actions in a head-on crash in Rush Township that injured a New Ringgold woman.

Schuylkill County Judge James P. Goodman sentenced Edward J. Farley, 48, to 20 days in the county jail, followed by 80 days on house arrest with electronic surveillance on a charge of driving under the influence.Goodman also fined him $25 for failing to yield, $200 for reckless driving, and $25 for careless driving. Farley was also ordered to pay court costs and fees, successfully complete Alcohol Highway Safety School, surrender his license for one year and pay a $500 fine to the state, and perform 60 hours of community service. Farley also must obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow-up treatment, and continue with a mental health provider.He pleaded guilty on Nov. 12; Goodman sentenced him on Jan. 4.Rush Township police charged Farley after the crash on Jan. 31, 2015.According to Sgt. Duane Frederick, Farley was traveling east on East Main Street at Ginthers at 10:50 p.m. As he approached the fork in the road at the intersection with Claremont Avenue, Route 309, his car crossed over the double yellow line and traveled north on the southbound ramp.Farley's car then entered Claremont Ave still traveling north in the southbound lane, colliding head on with a car driven by Gabrielle Lech, 24.Lech was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
